Dr. Tremain-Nelson knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She just wasn’t sure in what aspect. Growing up in MI, she remembers always asking her parents to bring her and her siblings to visit local farms and zoos.

While working at an assisted living facility, Sam formed a bond with a Dementia patient named Bill. Once a week, Bill’s dog Maggie would come to visit. Sam recalls seeing the sheer joy and happiness on Bill’s face whenever he saw his sweet Maggie. It was in those moments when Bill became his old self. This experience really opened Sam’s eyes to how much an animal can change a person’s life. It also made her realize that she wanted to be there for that journey.

Sam joined the Arrow Veterinary Clinic team in September of 2018, shortly after completing her Associate's degree in Applied Science. She knew she wanted to find a job where she could connect with the public in a way that would truly make a difference. What better way to do this than to share in the excitement and joy with the ones they love most – their pets? As our Lead Administrative Assistant, Sam enjoys forming lasting connections with both owners as well as their pets.
Outside of work, Sam resides with her husband, David, and their many pets. Porter is a rat terrier who will play fetch for hours. Molly is also a rat terrier who would like nothing more than to watch TV all day. Lady is a pit bull who is the biggest love bug around; she’s always ready for a good snuggle. Nekko is a White Swiss Shepherd mix who is very shy at first, but once you win him over, you have a friend for life. Perrin, a chocolate lab puppy that joined their family this summer. Tate, Fawn, and Pennie are three little balls of fluff that enjoy patrolling the house for treats. These three kitties are sure to win your heart.
In her spare time, Sam enjoys reading, especially on a rainy day with a cat curled up in her lap. Her current goal for the year is to read three books a month. So far, she’s right on track!

Jordan came to Michigan at the age of 4 months, after being adopted from Korea. Growing up, his family always had pets, from dogs and rabbits to hamsters, fish, and lizards. It wasn’t until he got married and adopted a new puppy, however, that Jordan’s passion for animals became more evident. Seeing this passion, his wife suggested he look into becoming a veterinary technician, and the rest is history!

In life, there are certain defining moments that shape who we become. For Khaiy, it started as a routine task at her first job as a kennel attendant. She was asked to take a very sick Golden Retriever outside for her daily stretch. As Khaiy sat in her chair, the struggling pup approached her, put her paws up on her shoulders and leaned her face and head into her chest, seeking love and comfort. With tears in her eyes, it was in that defining moment that Khaiy knew she wanted to work with animals for the rest of her life.

Khaiy spent about a year in her initial role, which she happened upon by chance in 2018, but quickly fell in love with. After moving to Grand Rapids, she worked at a few different hospitals before deciding to join the Arrow Vet Clinic team in February of 2023. An eager learner, Khaiy hit the ground running and continues to grow her skills. Her favorite part of being a veterinary assistant is educating clients on how to better care for their pets. She is also fascinated with the science of veterinary medicine, in particular laser technology.
Outside of the clinic, Khaiy resides in Grand Rapids with her partner and their four pets: Vienna (Husky), Toast (Shiba Inu), Mooni (Tortie cat), and Mandarin (medium haired, orange cat). Toast was a rescue who came from an abusive and neglectful past. Watching him learn to be a free and happy dog is such a joy. He is bonded with his sister Vienna and has learned all his play moves from her. Vienna loves to make sure the cats play nice and only go where they’re allowed.
When she’s not busy working or spending time with her fur babies, Khaiy loves to travel, drink coffee, and try new food. For her, food is more than just sustenance. It’s culture, heritage, community, and something that brings joy and togetherness. In 2014, Khaiy visited South Korea, where she cried her way through the first week adjusting to the heat of the food. Seeing the pride the people there had in serving their cuisine, however, made it all

Jenny has wanted to work with animals since she was a child, but her dog Auriel is the main reason why she decided to work in a veterinary clinic. Rescuing her was the greatest thing that had ever happened to Jenny, and she wanted a career where she could be around like-minded individuals and be able to help them when it came to caring for and loving their fur-babies. She found exactly what she was looking for in the veterinary field!

Bailey grew up the oldest of seven. Much of her childhood was spent on the farm, riding horses, and helping the neighbors with their pigs and cows. She especially loved seeing the baby animals and watching them grow into healthy adults. This upbringing instilled a deep love of animals that still drives Bailey to this day.

She especially loved seeing the baby animals and watching them grow into healthy adults. This upbringing instilled a deep love of animals that still drives Bailey to this day.
Bailey’s journey began when she took a chance and asked a family friend, who was also a veterinary practice manager, if she could join their customer service team. During her time there, Bailey learned everything she could and was able to work her way up to the position of veterinary assistant. She joined the Arrow Vet Clinic team in May of 2024. Professionally, Bailey has a special interest in diagnostics.
At home, Bailey has one pet of her own: a dog named Lola, who loves to play ball. On her days off, you can usually find Bailey having fun and soaking up the sun at the beach with Lola.

Alexis felt an incredibly strong connection with animals at a very young age. As she grew up, she realized just how special that connection was and how much she wanted to be a voice for the voiceless. Being an advocate for animal welfare is Alexis’ true calling in life.
