Things Your Cat Wants To Know Right Meow

January 15, 2024

At Arrow Veterinary Clinic, we love celebrating the various pet holidays and observances throughout the year. January has for the most part been all about dogs. From Walk Your Dog Month to Train Your Dog Month, and even specific breed spotlights, our canine companions have taken center stage several times this month. But let’s not forget our furry feline friends! One of the cutest kitty holidays ever is this month. Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day is the 22nd! Our curious feline pals apparently just can’t help but wonder about the world around them. What burning questions do you think your cat would ask if she could talk? A local Lowell, MI veterinarian has some ideas in this article.

Why Is Everyone Laughing At Me?

Cats will never stop being hilarious. Actually, Fluffy somehow manages to get even funnier when she’s being serious. You might find yourself giggling as she does that funny pre-pounce butt wiggle.

Why Can’t I Catch That Dot?

Fluffy has been after the red dot for a few decades now. Your kitty may never catch her elusive prey, but she’ll still have fun trying. Just don’t shine the light in her eyes.

Did You Pet Another Cat?

Fluffy’s nose isn’t quite as sensitive as Fido’s, but it’s still quite impressive. If you interact with another kitty, your feline buddy may pick up the scent.

Why Am I Here?

Although we don’t yet know for sure if cats suffer from existential crises or seriously contemplate the meaning of life, we definitely have our suspicions. What we do know is that they spend a lot of time meditating and pondering things.

Can I Climb That?

The old saying about curiosity killing the cat probably didn’t come out of nowhere. This one may also be tied into the legend about Fluffy having nine lives.

Why Can I See The Bottom Of My Food Bowl?

Our feline buddies take their meal schedules very seriously. You may find your furry friend meowing her displeasure if you’re late with her first, second, or third breakfast. (Note: cats are very good at ‘meowpulating’ their humans into overfeeding them. Ask your vet for nutritional advice.)

Where’s My Human?

We may never understand everything about cats, but we are making progress. Research has found that cats create visual maps of their domains, which they use to constantly track their humans’ movements. Picture an icon on a GPS map. Fluffy may get confused or even distressed if she can’t find you!

Is There A Reason Why I Can’t Go Outside?

Keeping kitties indoors is always a good idea. If you tell your feline pal about the dangers that await her outside, such as weather, cars, and even other cats, she may just blink and yawn, but that’s beside the point.

How Come You Don’t Sleep Enough?

As far as cats are concerned, the 6 to 8 hours of sleep most people get every night is nowhere near enough. Fluffy can nap for as much as 20 hours per day, though she usually settles for 14 to 16 hours. Offer your drowsy pet lots of comfy napping spots.

What’s The Reason For My Breakfast Being Late?

The old adage about breakfast being the most important meal of the day may very well be on Fluffy’s full list of golden rules. If you’re late with Fluffy’s first, second, or third breakfasts, you may find your furry friend meowing her displeasure.

What Is The Dog’s Deal?

Fluffy and Fido are both excellent pets. While they have definitely had lots of ups and downs, they have learned how to get along. However, they don’t speak the same language. Your cat might wonder why Fido always does what he’s told, doesn’t use a litterbox, and never cleans up after himself. Even more purrplexing: he actually enjoys car rides.

Why Do You Keep Taking Me To The Vet?

Fluffy is usually not amused by being put in a carrier and taken for a dreaded car ride. Her health and well-being, however, depend on good veterinary care. Contact your Lowell, MI pet hospital to make an appointment today.

Why Is There Another Cat In My Territory?

Cats are generally homebodies. Even those that are allowed to go outside tend to stay close to home. (Note: we always recommend keeping cats indoors, for safety reasons.) However, Fluffy does tend to be a bit territorial. Some kitties fly into a fit of rage at the mere sight of another feline crossing their yard.

Why Don’t You Understand String Theory?

You may have seen jokes about how cats are not subject to the same rules of physics as we are. That’s not officially true: at least, no one has produced solid evidence. However, Fluffy does sleep in positions usually associated with pretzels. She’s also remarkably lithe, and may or may not be able to teleport herself through wormholes. (We’ll leave this one to the physicists.)

What Is Going On In There?

Cats often love to sit and watch their humans. Fluffy may keep an eye on you while you read, cook, do laundry, or fix things. She may even follow you into the bathroom!

Is There A Mouse In That?

The old saying about curiosity killing the cat probably didn’t come out of nowhere. Cats are naturally inquisitive animals. This isn’t just a coincidence. Since kitties are both predators and prey in the wild, it makes sense that they would always want to know what’s around them. There could be a mouse hiding in that paper bag. A cupboard could serve as a safe place for Fluffy to hide from the dreaded vacuum cleaner. (Note: Cats can sometimes get locked inside sheds and garages, so keep a close eye on your feline buddy.)

What Happened To All My Toys?

If you have a kitty, it’s safe to say that there may be a small pile of cat toys underneath your chairs, beds, or sofas at any given time.

What Happens to My Sunbeam?

Fluffy isn’t technically cold-blooded, and she actually doesn’t run on solar power. However, she apparently missed that memo. Kitties love finding warm, sunny spots to doze off in. Your furball may wonder why her favorite sunbeams aren’t available all the time.

Why Won’t You Let Me Sleep There?

Cats can spend up to 20 hours a day snoozing. At some point, you’ll have to move your drowsy pet off of something, whether it’s a book, computer, or the shirt you wanted to wear.

Do You Need Help?

Do you ever marvel at how easily cats wrap us around their little paws? The average housecat spends most of her time relaxing and being adorable. Talk about an easy life! We provide food, care, lap space, catnip, toys, beds, and boxes to kitties. Your feline pal is very grateful for these things, even if she has a funny way of showing it. Fluffy may try to return the favor by helping with suitcases, wrapping gifts, and changing sheets.

That takes care of most of Fluffy’s questions, but what about yours? If you have questions about your cat’s health or care, please do not hesitate to contact us! As your local Lowell, MI pet hospital, we’re here for you!
