Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, and care deeply about what we do every day.
Dr. Tremain-Nelson knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. She just wasn’t sure in what aspect. Growing up in MI, she remembers always asking her parents to bring her and her siblings to visit local farms and zoos. As she grew older, her passion for animal care continued to grow, and a desire to become a veterinarian began to take shape.
After taking a few classes at a community college, Dr. Tremain-Nelson was accepted into Michigan State University, where she began taking animal science courses. While attending MSU, she landed a job as an assistant at a nearby clinic. She would go on to complete veterinary school and work several years at a clinic in Plainwell, MI before deciding she wanted to own her own practice.
Dr. Tremain-Nelson purchased Arrow Veterinary Clinic in 2017, after working for the previous owner for three years. Clinically, she has a special interest in dentistry because it has such a powerful impact, from alleviating pain to helping with bad breath. She also really enjoys dermatology due to the complex nature of skin issues.
At home, Dr. Tremain-Nelson lives with her husband, Joe, and their three children: Aiden, Alexandra and Ashtyn. The family has two dogs, Sparky, who loves to chase anything that happens to pass by the house and Titan, a pit bull that came in with a rescue and needed his leg amputated. Dr. Tremain-Nelson cared for him at her home, post-surgery and the whole family fell in love. He’s a big goofball that loves the water and chasing balls in the yard. They also have four cats: Beatrice (Fur), TJ, Bauer, and Arthur. Bauer loves to talk since he is a Siamese, Arthur came in from a local shelter that won her heart over and the others love to be lazy.
When not attending endless sporting events for the children, Dr. Tremain-Nelson loves to spend time outdoors, especially in the summer. She enjoys camping, kayaking, and attending concerts. In fact, it was at a Luke Bryan concert in 2019 where she met Joe – a very memorable experience indeed.
